

She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and was the head Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital from 1965-1981. She was a flight nurse during WWII in the South Pacific.
Ganny was an avid gardener, every yard she helped with was a canvas and Granny was the painter. She loved sitting outside enjoying the results she and God created. Granny wrote a book about her life for friends on her 95th birthday. It is available on Amazon.com “Remembering the WINGED ANGELS of WWII”. Also, a video on her 96th birthday on VIMEO was produced by her grandson David, search “Helen Charleston 96”.
Family members include her daughters Cathy DiPerna, Helen (Bob) Raesemann and Gayle (Wendell) Cooper, son William (Patty) Charleston all of Jacksonville, FL, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Wilbur Ray Charleston, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
A graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 Main St.- gate 5, Jacksonville.
