Gloria Pounds, age 77, passed away on May 2, 2018 in Orange Park, Florida. Gloria was born on August 2, 1940 in Lake Butler, Florida to Russell and Nettie Brooks. Gloria was primarily a homemaker but also spent several years as a quality control inspector for Anchor Hocking Glass factory. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband Jack Pounds, and her parents Russell Brooks and Nettie Cagle and brother Donnie Greene. She is survived by her daughters Janet Caffee (Hollis), Karen Hancock (Steve ), Kathy Morris (Wade), and Robin Wilson (Marvin), and step-daughter Judy Byrd; her grandchildren David White, Stephen White (Felicia Diefenderfer), Stacy Thomas, Jason Thomas, Allison Tumbelty (Randol McAllister), Lyndsey Carr, Meghann Wilson, Daniel Wilson, and Tracy Mertes; great-grandchildren Devon Parker, Kaydence Jolly, Raeven Jolly, Evan Gonzalez, Emily Gonzalez, Taylor Tumbelty, Skye Tumbelty, Chloe Tumbelty, Aidan McAllister, Jasper McAllister and Addison Carr; her siblings Inell Brooks and Ombra Young; nieces Lorie Demski and Darla Shiell; and her “sister from another mother” Brigitte Barley, and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Father Ed Shiell will serve as officiant. A receiving of friends and family will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
