George Morgan Bennett died in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, January 5th, 2024. He was 84 years young. Born in Jacksonville on September 26th, 1939, he was the son of Talmage Morgan Bennett and Margaret May Spiegel Bennett. His lovely wife was Anne Bennett, and his sisters are Susie Craig, Mary Danese, and Anna Bennett.
Mr. Bennett graduated from Lee High School, and he served in the Army Reserves. He was the owner and president of Bennett’s Office Products, which later became Bennett’s Business Systems. Long after he retired, his past employees are still his longtime friends to this day. George Bennett truly loved all of his family and friends, and was always caring, compassionate, and generous in nature. Throughout his life, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and this love was the basis of many trips all over the world.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Bennett, and his sisters Susie Craig, Mary Danese, and Anna Bennett, and their respective families [which include Amy Craig Blanco, Jennifer Craig Ortiz, Kristina Danese Keller, Kimberly Danese Cochran, Megan Whitmore Sullivan, and Dorothy Whitmore Gonzalez]. He is also survived by his children and stepchildren, Cammie Bennett Sanders [Husband Kevin Sanders], Robert Morgan Bennett [Wife Linda Bennett], Carin Bennett, Rex McCaskill [Wife Nicole McCaskill], and Todd McCaskill [and Frances McCaskill], as well as he had grandchildren Ciara Sanders, Kayden Sanders, Sydney Wyrick, and Anna Grace Wyrick.
A memorial service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, at 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday, January 11th, 2024, with services starting at 2:00 PM, and visitation allowed just prior to. A reception will follow after the ceremonies. Friends and family are invited to attend in person to celebrate his life. Based on his love for hunting, he asked that the attendees wear comfortable clothes that are camo and green, as a tribute to his love of the outdoors.
