This morning, another member of the Greatest Generation joined his family and comrades in Heaven. George H. Abel, Jr., age 96, who survived the difficulties of the Great Depression, witnessed the horrors of World War II as a B-24 bomber pilot in the South Pacific, passed away quietly from this life and onto the next. An avid and skilled gardener, a lover of food and his Alma Mater Muhlenberg College, he is survived by his daughters, Nancy Lloyd and Anne Shumaker; grandsons, Andy Shumaker, David Lloyd and Casey Shumaker; and two great-grandchildren. His sense of humor, sense of duty, and his keen mind and meticulous eye for detail, nature and family cannot be replaced. Please take a moment today and think kindly on his soul and of those who loved him. More importantly reach out and talk to those you love and care for.
