He was an army combat veteran who served his country honorably in the Vietnam war. He was distinguished in his special forces role as a green beret paratrooper in the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He fought during the most perilous military campaigns, including the Tet Offensive.
Later in life, he was the commander of two VFW posts, in Jacksonville, Beach, Florida, and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He enjoyed working with veterans and helping the community. He was notably responsible for major innovative improvements in both facilities. He also led efforts to garner record breaking donations to support local veterans.
He Is survived by his sons; Timothy, Gary, Michael and Erick, and his sisters; Gail, Grace, and Dawn.
He was a loving father, and loved his family. We will miss his sense of humor, funny things that he would say, and his laugh. He enjoyed talking to anyone that would listen, sitting on the back porch having coffee and trying to shoe those pesky geese away.
His little dog Barkley misses him very much and is being well taken care of.
He touched many lives and will be missed. We love him very much. He was believer in Christ, and outwardly confessed his faith in him.
