Frederick "Terry" Weyer, 84, went home to be with The Lord on August 4, 2014. A Jacksonville native, an eagle scout, a former deacon at Murray Hill Baptist Church and a recent member of Ortega United Methodist Church. He attended Robert E. Lee High School, and was a well respected figure in the lumber industry for over five decades. He was a member of the Florida Yacht Club and the Rotary Club of Riverside. Terry was an avid fisherman and hunter, who loved Gator Football and spending time with his family. Preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph WeyerJr. and Francis Shore Weyer, 3 brothers, Jack, Bill and Bob Weyer, sister, Shirley Weyer Draper and his loving wife of 64 years, Sylvia Jacobs Weyer. He is survived by 2 sisters, Betty Kelly and Nancy Walker, 3 daughters, Diane Hays (Ron), Frances Ford (Bob) and Joy Schinning (Gary), 3 grandsons, Ronny Hays (Lori), Ronnie Turner, Chad Dix (Alice), 9 great-grandchildren and a large extended family. The family asks in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in his name to North East Florida Community Hospice or the Alzheimer's Foundation. A visitation will be held at THE EDGEWOOD CHAPEL of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Ortega United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11am. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
