Franklin David Richardson passed from this life on February 16, 2023. He was born in Live Oak, Florida on December 16, 1926 as the second born child to William David Richardson and Mildred Griffin Richardson. Franklin graduated from Suwannee High School, playing football, excelling in literature, and enjoying classical music. He attended 2 years of college in Aurora, Illinois. His career was with the US Post Office, working in Live Oak, Newberry, and Gainesville, and retiring in Jacksonville.
Having 4 self-published novels and several unpublished short stories, writing was a compulsion for Franklin. When he was not writing, it would have left him miserable and he called it “positive activity” for that reason.
Franklin was a World War II Veteran in The Army Air Corp during this era and was at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Mississippi. He was among the first occupation troops to Munich Germany and he had a great love of man and country.
Predeceased by his parents, David and Mildred Richardson, brother Rufus (Buster) and Sister in law Virginia Richardson, nephew Michael Brady, and stepson, Scott Thornton. Franklin’s wife, Jean Rivers Richardson was the love of his life, who passed away in 1994. Surviving him are his sister, JoAnn Brady (Al, deceased) and brother James C. Richardson (Elsa, deceased). Nephews, David Richardson (Stephanie), Barry Richardson (Julie), John Brady (Patty), Stephen Brady (Melissa) and niece Carmen Richardson Faulkner (Ronnie, deceased). He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Susan Thornton Harrell (Mark, deceased), 2 granddaughters, Lauren (Anthony Fryer) and Erin Harrell, and 2 great grandson’s, Luke and Cole.
Believing in Jesus and thoughts that goodness will be rewarded, he was ready for Jesus to meet him at his death of this life and beginning of his eternal life.
