He was born November 29, 1944 in Montgomery, Alabama, the son of the late James Luke and Ethel Horton. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and making his weekly trips to the dog track. He devoted his life to his lifelong love Almeta Williams. He worked as a Carpet Layer for many years. Frank loved to listen to old country music, dancing, working in the yard and push mowing the grass, cooking and eating his sweets. Frank loved “cutting the fool” and making people laugh by telling jokes or stories from the past. He loved working out, talking about doing 100 pushups and 100 curls every morning and showing off his muscles proudly. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his beloved lifelong companion of 40+ years Almeta Williams; his parents James Luke and Ethel (Foley) Horton; three brothers, Mark, Johnny, and Jimmy Horton, one sister Josie (Horton) Boren.
He is survived by his two children Dianne Horton of Jacksonville, FL and Michael “David” Horton (Amanda) of Callahan, FL; Seven Grandchildren: Corey, Dustin, Errick, and Frankie McCance and Haley, Riley, and Everleigh Horton. Five Great-Grandchildren.
A visitation for Frank will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Friday, January 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205 with Pastor Jeff Carter officiating. A committal service will occur Friday, January 27, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
