Frank L. Golleher passed away on April 20, 2013. He had been battling terminal cancer for several years. His early years revolved around a large musical family, school, and church. His love for playing bluegrass music, and string instruments continued throughout his life. Frank was born in Abilene, TX on September 25 1933, to the late William and Wretha Golleher.
In the 1960’s he moved his young family to Jacksonville Fl, and finally settled in the family home on Pottsburg Creek which he built with his wife, children, and a family friend. Frank worked in the gas and appliance industry for many years. Prior to retirement he worked for NHP Properties as a District Maintenance Engineer. Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Judaun (Ragan), and his children, Theron (Teresa) Golleher, Angela (Steve) Cox, and Shelley Golleher, all of Jacksonville Fl. Frank is also survived by the “4 loves of his life,” his grandchildren, Zachary Golleher of Louisville, KY, Stevie and DOC Cox, and Theron Lance Golleher Jr, all of Jacksonville Fl., and daughter-in-laws, Jennifer Stopher of Fayetteville, NC and Monica Elmore of Lousiville, KY. Frank is also survived by one brother, Bill Golleher, and one sister, Faye Brown, both of Abilene, TX. Frank is preceded in death by a son, SFC James Darryl Golleher, who lost his life while serving with the U.S. Army 3rd Special Forces Group in Bosnia. Frank was a baptized believer who served as a Deacon at the Arlington Church of Christ and as an Elder until his death at the Dean Road Church of Christ. Frank was active in his community, especially while the children were in school, serving as the Booster Club President at Englewood High School and performing a multitude of other functions, during and after his children graduated. Frank also loved his “old car” which he spent hours restoring and driving. In addition to his immediate family, Frank is also survived by several close friends and families who he considered “family.” He considered their children and grandchildren to be his also.
The family will greet friends for visitation on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from 6 to 9 pm at the Hardage Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. 32207.
