Frank was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL where he raised his family with his beloved wife of 44 years, Rhonda Martin. He worked throughout his life in a multitude of capacities utilizing his many abilities. Starting at age 11, Frank, his father, and his family custom harvested wheat each season in the Midwest from Oklahoma through South Dakota. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam war era, and as a Peace Corps instructor in Guinea, West Africa. His work throughout his career in the heavy equipment industry included instructing at a vocational technical school in Kansas, servicing machinery as lead mechanic at Ring Power in Tallahassee and Jacksonville, and maintaining equipment as a mechanic at St. John’s River Power Park in Jacksonville. He is remembered for his strong drive and work ethic, his generous spirit, and his devotion to God and to his family.
He is preceded in death by his two brothers, Gale (Carol) Martin and Phil Martin, daughter, Darcy Martin, and son, Michael Martin.
Frank is survived by his wife, Rhonda Martin; three sisters, Joan Martin of Parkville, MO, Jean Arnold of Tucson, AZ, and Jan Schulte (Rick) of Wichita Falls, TX; two sons, John Martin of Jacksonville, FL, and Patrick Martin (Kate) of Charlotte, NC; four daughters, Katie Martin of Tallahassee, FL, Rebecca Lachut (Ian) of Washington state, Jennifer McNeill (Tyler) of Monticello, FL and Mary Martin of Jacksonville, FL; five granddaughters and two grandsons, Morgan, Mae, Molly, Ava, Ira, Veronica, and Declan.
A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Monday, April 1, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 4665 Thomasville Rd. Tallahassee, FL 32309. A private interment will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville at a later date.
