Frances Elise Harrison went home to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, June 17, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family and in the wonderful care of Hospice. Frances was born on June 3, 1929 in Centerville, Virginia. She graduated from Hyattsville High School in Maryland and went to work for the telephone company for several years before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Lester Harrison. Frances and Les shared a wonderful life together and raised their family in Hughesville, Maryland and Charleston, South Carolina. In 2004, Frances and Les moved to Jacksonville, Florida and have been a constant source of joy for their daughter and her family. Frances was an encouraging and devoted Mother and Wife as well as a caring and compassionate friend for so many people. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts and minds of all that knew and loved her.
Preceding her in death are her beloved son Lester Jr. (Buddy), her loving sisters Florence (Flo) and Edith, and her loving brother-in-law John Harrison. Family mourning this loss are her husband of 54 years Lester Harrison, her daughter Patricia Sweeney (David), her sister-in-law Phyllis Harrison, her sister-in-law Shirley Rollins (Donald), her cousin Frances French and her many nieces and nephews. Frances was a devoted Nana to Lester Harrison III, Kaleigh Harrison and Jack Sweeney serving as an endless spring of love and encouragement.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Harrison will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9-10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Frances’ name to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Blvd is serving the family.
