Felix Solaun, 87 years of age, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on August 29, 2018. He was born in Havana, Cuba on April 5th, 1931 and immigrated to the United States in 1961 with his wife Hilda and his oldest daughter, Maria. Felix graduated from Belen Catholic School in Havana and received his Bachelors of Science from the University of Havana. He was married to Hilda Luis Pelly for almost 60 years; they wed on October 26, 1958.
Felix had a career in Civil Engineering and worked for many years at a local Jacksonville company, Bessent, Hammock and Ruckman, In addition to his Civil Engineering work, he had a passion for spending time with his family.
Felix is survived by his wife, Hilda Solaun of Jacksonville, Florida, his daughters Maria Solaun of Rockville, Maryland and Leticia Solaun of Gainesville, Florida, and his two sons Felix Solaun of Atlanta, Georgia and Jose Solaun of Ponte Vedra, Florida. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:30pm Sunday, September 1, 2018, with a Viewing starting at 1:30pm, and will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida, 32207. A graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Felix’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
