She graduated from Norfolk State University with a degree in Social work. Ethel married Lamar McGee Sr. in 1956 and they had three children, Lamar McGee Jr., Trina DeVon McGee Bemby and Lester McGee. Some of her greatest achievements were serving her family and friends in which no one was a stranger. Ethel always believed and practiced in the Baptist Faith. Even in her retirement Ethel never stopped helping others. She enjoyed traveling and communicating on Facebook. Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, her young child Lester.
She leaves behind brothers, Champ Omel; sister, Hurlen Seymour; children, Lamar McGee Jr. and Trina; grandchildren, Candice, Lamar, Danielle, Jason, Christian, Christopher and Dominick; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N. Jacksonville, FL 32225.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road N. Jacksonville, FL 32225. Interment to follow in the Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Cemetery.
