Essie Virginia Kirkland Lewis

Essie Virginia Kirkland Lewis, 98 of Jacksonville, FL was born in Tifton, GA. She was the youngest of six children, all of whom have passed as has her husband George Franklin Lewis and her son George Randall Lewis. She is survived by her son Franklin Derrell Lewis, his wife Shirlee, her daughter Cynthia Coughlin, 8 grandchildren, 11 great children and 3 great great grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews.

Essie and Franklin were married 63 years and enjoyed traveling in their motorhomes, creating and selling their crafts at craft shows throughout FL, GA, and as far as PA and AZ. In her later years her passion was caring for her plants and spending time with her family. Raised during The Great Depression, marrying as a teenager, celebrating happy moments, suffering losses, surviving health issues and struggles, Essie was the epitome of resiliency and will be greatly missed by so many.

A visitation for Essie will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32207. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32207. A committal service will occur Friday, April 18, 2025 at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32207. A reception will occur Friday, April 18, 2025, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32207.
