Ernesto (Sto) Yumul Arceo, Jr was born in Okinawa, Japan where Ernesto Sr was stationed. The Navy sent them places where Sto made many life-long friends and acquaintances along the way. Over the years he shared many memories of living in Corpus Christi, Texas and Norfolk, Virginia where he attended elementary and middle school. Once they moved to Jacksonville, Sto found what he called his Cadre, those people closest to him, that he continued to know and love his entire life.
Attending Sandalwood High School, and then Jacksonville University, where he was in NROTC, his circle of friends grew. After graduating, Sto moved to San Diego for a few years while working for SAIC, and enjoyed the West Coast surfing, motorcycle rides up the coast highway and traveling across the US and to Europe with his fellow IT SysDudes. After a few years, he moved back to Florida to be near his parents and sister and start a family. West Palm Beach was the first stop, then Orlando, before settling back in Jacksonville. After South Florida Water Management, Motorola and Auspex, Sto moved to the financial side of IT with Charles Schwab and continued to Merrill Lynch, Fidelity and Bank of America.
Sto found great joy in being a father and passing on his love of the waves, sand & sun as well as his love for soccer and watching the Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars football teams. He enjoyed taking his children and their friends to the beach and giving them their first experience surfing, and the continued beach trips as they all grew. Sto also started coaching soccer when his eldest was old enough to play. This continued for many years as he still coached upper level teams after his own kids no longer played the “beautiful game”.
To everyone who knew and loved him, Sto will always be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor, generosity and fierce loyalty. Even those who didn’t know him well or long, remember him.
Sto remembered his daughter Anastasia and father Ernie daily.
Sto is survived by his children, Jeremiah, Daniel, Felicia, Max, Lizzy, Hannah and Julia; his mother Connie; his sister Lyn; his niece Christina; nephews Joey and Brandon and great-niece Mila, along with many loved ones, friends and family, too many to count.
Though he is no longer with us, he would want you to remember and keep his memory alive in your heart and always be there for your Ohana.
