Ellen Woolley Wood, 70, passed away November 24, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Wood was born on February 1st, 1948 in Salem, Illinois to Hal and Clara Woolley. She grew up in Daytona and Ormond Beach and married Nowell Lee Wood on December 21st, 1968. They raised three children in Jacksonville, Florida. Mrs. Wood graduated from the University of North Florida and started her long term career as a teacher at Riverside Presbyterian Day School in 1981. She received the Bo Cotton Award for excellence in teaching in 1993. She retired in 2013 after many years of shaping young minds and fulfilling her calling as an educator. Mrs. Wood loved to spend time in the mountains with her family each year, and enjoyed day trips with friends and family to explore local towns.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Clara Woolley, and her husband, Nowell Lee Wood, Sr. She is survived by her brother, Steve Woolley (Sandra), her three children, Jennifer Wood, Allison Wood, and Lee Wood (Patrice), her three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Bryson, and Madelyn, and many other loving family members and friends.
A Celebration of Ellen's Life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 1st in Lakewood Presbyterian Church, 2001 University Boulevard West, Jacksonville, FL 32217.
