Ellen Riley Morris, age 86, passed away at home, in her sleep, on July 21, 2017. She was employed by Southern Electric Company of Jacksonville, FL for over 30 years, eventually becoming president of the company. She was born and raised on a farm in rural Indiana, and moved to Florida in 1973. She was an avid animal lover, her whole life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell (Jim) Morris Jr.; daughters, Susan E. Davis, and Michelle L. Morris. She is survived by her son, Steven Morris (Tiffany); daughter, Stacee R. Edgar (Jim); eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10-11am, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville 32207. Graveside service will follow at 11am in Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in her memory be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
