She was born in Massillon Ohio on January 26, 1948, the daughter of the late Raymond and
Roberta Tilly she is survived by her husband Kenneth (Skip) Bricker.
Ellen was very active in her high school band, the Marching Tigers of Massillon Ohio, where she
played various instruments throughout her high school years. She studied psychology briefly at
The Ohio State University and was very proud to be an avid Ohio State football fan. She also
attended Tallahassee Community College and was working towards her A.A.. Living in
Tallahassee for 17 years she quickly became a proud Florida State football fan and loved going
to the games.
She married the love of her life (Skip) on September 4, 1971 at the First Church of God in
Massillon Ohio. They enjoyed a beautiful two week honeymoon driving across the country.
Ellen was a long time member of Beta Sigma Phi (BSP) sorority and enjoyed the sisterhood,
Ellen never met a stranger she didn't like and was loved by all who met her. BSP has truly lost
an amazing sister. She also enjoyed conventions and traveling to meet up with her online
Gamma group, getting together in different states across the country. Ellen loved going on
cruises and she also had a love for quilting and the River City Piecemakers(Quilting) club.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 51 years Kenneth Bricker. Her brother Paul VanNest of
Canton Ohio. Three children who all reside in Jacksonville, Florida; Tracie Bagley and her
husband David, Charles Emmert Jr and Rachel Bolin and her husband Lonnie. Ellen was
blessed with seven grandchildren; Tracie’s four girls, Rebekka and her husband Roger
Matthews, Bethanie and her husband Nick Proehl, Chelcee and Joscelyne, Charles Jr’s two
boys Charles lll and Andrew and Rachel’s son Shane. Ellen loved being a Gigi of 7 great
grandchildren Rebekka’s three Analynn, Emaleigh and Jase. Bethanie‘s three Mirea, Zayden
and Abbiegale and Joscelyne’s Gracie Marie. Ellen is also survived by her husband’s brother
Keith Bricker and sister Karen Dickson, both in Ohio.
Services Will Take place Friday, October 21, 2022 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral
Home and Memorial Gardens, 850 St. John’s Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Florida. A private
viewing for family will take place at 12pm and open to the public at 1pm. A celebration of her life
will follow at 2pm. A light reception will take place afterwards.
