Elizabeth Carson Sessions, 85, passed away peacefully in Jacksonville, FL on April 12, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 8, 1935 in Mayo, FL to the late Madiline Elizabeth Edwards and Sidney Carson Edwards. She is now reunited with her childhood sweetheart, John F. Sessions, whom she was married to for 52 years, as well as her son, Kevin F. Sessions, and her sister, Linda E. Koon. She will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Caren E. Felker, and her son-in-law, Paul J. Felker, Jr. The pride and joys of her life were those who called her “Ny”, which were her grandchildren, Justin F. Felker, Erin E. Felker-Murphy (James J. Murphy III), and Matthew J. Sessions. Family meant everything to her, and she enjoyed spending time with her many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Elizabeth enjoyed learning and reading throughout her life. She was valedictorian of her high school class at Lafayette High School, as well as a member of the Beta Club. She then went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Florida State University, as well as become a member of the Beta Eta Chapter of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. After earning her B.S. at FSU, she became a teacher at Spring Park Elementary and Holiday Hill Elementary. Elizabeth regularly attended Arlington United Methodist Church, where she was a volunteer visitor with the Prayer Group and joined the Sunshine Circle, where she formed good friendships. She and her husband enjoyed living in Deerwood Country Club for over 40 years. Her husband, John, was a successful business owner of Bug Out Service, where employees and business acquaintances became good friends to the Sessions family. Along with her educational accomplishments, she had many talents and interests including playing the piano, writing poetry, decorating her home, hosting family get-togethers, cooking, crafting and gardening. Her home and yards were her happy place and she enjoyed sitting and socializing on her back porch. Those who knew Elizabeth “Carson” would say that she had a sweet, caring and soft demeaner. She was the perfect mix of proper, stylish, poised, genuine, witty and fun, with a touch of strong southern lady.
