Elizabeth Broughton (Thigpen), age 84, died at St. Vincent’s hospital in Jacksonville, Florida on Monday, March 2, 2015. Born May 14, 1930 in Yulee, Florida to Euritha and Eddie G. Thigpen. Elizabeth grew up in Florida. She was a homemaker, worked in foster care as well as daycare. She loved her family and enjoyed countless times together. Most of all she loved her Lord. She was active in her church and numerous outreach ministries. She loved to reach out to people and to give to the missions cause. She was faithful in giving. She will be greatly missed by all her family. She is finally in heaven where she longed to be. She is preceded in death by her husband Ernest, daughter Hilda, brothers and sisters Lillian McCorkel, Tommy Thigpen, Charlie Thigpen, H.R. Thigpen, Edna Smith, and Velma Markham. Elizabeth is survived by two daughters Dian Groover, Jackie Smith, one son Rusty (Pam) Grant, one sister Ella Taylor, her grandchildren Sean (Gwyn) Broughton, David (Feliza) Smith Jr., Bryan Smith, Christina (Preston) Motil, Brooke Grant, Jason Grant, Justin Grant, Jeffrey Grant and her great-grandchildren Seth Broughton, Dylan Smith, Ethan Smith, Kendall Smith and Parker Motil and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Chapel, 729 S. Edgewood Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205 on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 6-8pm. The funeral service will be held at Lane Avenue Church of God, 2956 Lane Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32254 on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00am with interment following services at Riverside Memorial Park.
