Eleanor Elizabeth Edsall, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at home in St. Johns, Florida at the age of 93. Eleanor was born September 8, 1926 in Nyack, NY to Henry and Wilhelmine Schonfeld. She was predeceased by her parents, her dear friend and brother, William Henry Schonfeld, and the love of her life, Harold Vincent Edsall after 54 years of marriage.
Eleanor’s lifelong devotion to her family was the key to her wonderful life. She married Harold in 1947 and had three children, Edith, William (Bill) and Mimi. They moved from Nanuet, NY to Florida in 1984 to enjoy their retirement.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter and long-time caregiver, Edith of St. Johns, Florida, son Bill, and his wife Lynn of Fort Montgomery, NY, granddaughter Tara Caselli and grandson Jack Russell both of Warwick, NY, daughter Mimi Turi, her husband Charles (Chuck) Turi, granddaughter Eleanor Turi, grandson, Charles (Chuck) Turi all of Pennington, NJ, nephew Rick Schonfeld (Tucson, AZ), niece Debbie Comito (Colorado Springs, CO) and many friends and relatives who will miss her dearly. She will be sorely missed by her furry companions Gertie and Dolly.
Eleanor will be interned in the Pearl River Cemetery during a private family celebration of her life. Eleanor was grateful for her beautiful home and the care she received from Edith and her doctors at the Mayo Clinic. The family requests that memorial gifts be designated for research at Mayo Clinic.
