Edward Ivey Young Sr.

Edward Ivey Young, Sr., born October 5, 1958, passed away at the age of 64 on April 10, 2023 in Jacksonville, FL, where he lived most of his life other than several years in Jesup, GA. Before becoming disabled, he was employed with Anchor Glass Container for several years.

Edward was known as a free spirited, caring, loving person. He loved helping people and, most importantly, he loved his wife Shirley Young aka “Sweetness” and his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Shirley Young; sons, Edward I. Young, Jr. and wife Selena of Odum, Ga; Tony Young of Odum, GA; stepson, Vernon Young, Jr. of Middleburg, FL; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Linda Faye Young of Chatsworth, GA and Barbara Bell of St. George, GA and several nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his father, Vernie Young, Jr.; mother, Leta Rubymae Anderson Young of Jacksonville, FL; stepdaughter, Louisa Young of Jacksonville, FL; siblings, Doris Y. Manuel of Odum, GA, Vernie Young, Jr. of Blackshear, GA, Vernon Young, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL, Franklin A. Young of Odum, GA and Patricia Y. Long of Ludowici, GA; grandchildren, Dalton I. Young of Odum, GA, Monique Leta Young of Odum, GA and Chelsea D. Young of Jacksonville, FL.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 12pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A visitation will begin at the Funeral Home at 10am before the service. Burial will follow at 1:30 a Westview Cemetery, 5355 Picketville Road, Jacksonville, FL 32254.
