We are thankful, grateful,  and blessed to have known Edna.  I will always remember her sweat  countenance and gentle demeanor. It was always a treat to chat with her at the house while she was waiting for her granddaughter's piano lessons.  We will miss her! And, today, on her birthday, we are praying for her family as they enter this new journey !

I met Edna when we were both 9 years old. I had just moved to the neighborhood and Edna was two houses down from me. We became close friends very quickly and spent many hours together during our elementary and junior high school years. I have very fond memories of summer days in her pool, having slumber parties and sleepovers and sharing lots of adventures in Girl Scouts. We shared a tent at Girl Scout camp with 2-3 other girls and used to sit up late at night telling ghost stories. We used to work on getting Girl Scout badges together. She recently reminded me of the fact that my mother helped her work on her Girl Scout cooking badge, during which we ended up with chocolate cake batter all over the kitchen! We both had a strong love for music and she ended up going into chorus in junior high and  high school, while I decided to go into band. We both stayed involved in music the rest of our lives, but ended up going in very different directions with it. We drifted apart in high school due to differing interests and friends, but I always knew she would be my friend for life. She was just like that - very sweet, kind and true with everyone she knew and had a very special sense of humor. After many years of being out of touch, I was really happy to find her again on Facebook and so grateful to have had an opportunity to reconnect. I will miss you, old friend, but the memories we shared will always be very special to me. Rest well, Edna.

My prayers have been with your family for a long time.  Edna will be missed by so many people. I only ever heard positive things from Edna.  She had an infectious smile and a beautiful voice.  We sat together in choir for many years her beautiful voice covered up my “joyful noise” for a long time.  I never told her how much I appreciated that!  We went on a mission trip together and she prayed for me many times. Haley was her whole world. She 💕 loved being her Nana. The world is a better place because of her. 

I have so many wonderful memories of Edna . We worked together at Bayview and I spent many days visiting her in the Library she helped design . We went on mission trips together  and had so much fun . Lunches , dinners and great moments at Riverside Park  and Friday nights dinners with friends.  Edna loved her beach time in the summer and looked forward to it . I got to spend some time with her in July not knowing it would be her last visit .  I still can’t believe she is gone , but I know she is in God’s

O my I am so sorry to hear this. Your mom was an amazing person. She was one of my favorite teachers. My heart breaks hearing this but I am thankful she isn’t suffering anymore. I am praying for you and your family. ❤️

I have nothing but the fondest memories of Edna, she was always smiling and helping out where needed. I remember her helping with the cherb choir getting us dressed in our angel costumes when I was 5 or 6. She also helped out with Girl Scouts going camping, leading us in songs and teaching us. Her smile and kind heart and words will definitely be missed by all that knew and loved her. My deepest sympathies to Bob, Melissa and Haley. I hope the many memories you had with her help keep her with you always.

Edna, you were beautiful inside and out! You were a woman of great dignity, humility and kindness. Your smile could light up a room and your sweet gentle spirit made us feel more at ease in your presence. My wife Lynn enjoyed serving in the choir with you at Riverside Park UMC. You could be devilish, in a fun and crazy way. You accepted those you met where they were and were patient. I so enjoyed working with your daughter Melissa at the church also, my conversations with Bob, and your seeing your cute little granddaughter Haley play with our son Caleb. You will be missed. Life is not fair and you left us much too soon, but we know that you are watching over us all until we meet you again in that beautiful heavenly kingdom where you now live in no darkness or pain or hurt.

 Edna was a  new friend who I felt I’d known forever. When bringing Haley for piano, she’d linger for relaxed visits, where time didn’t seem to matter, to talk about life and mission, music, refugees, books, and family. She blessed our family, and so many others. Edna, it is a privilege to have known you this side of Heaven. ❤️ 

The world has lost a sweet, gentle soul.  Edna touched the lives of so many, not only her students, but those of us who worked with her in the library world.   The librarians of Duval County Public Schools will always remember her fondly as a lovely person and a tireless advocate for literacy.  May you find a magnificent library in Heaven, dear Edna!

Edna showed a great love for reading and helping others. The students and I always enjoyed her as a guest reader and volunteer. She had a loving spirit and touch. Heaven certainly gained an angel but we lost one here on earth! Edna will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Prayers for your entire family.

Edna’s love for Haley amazed me.  She was always up for going to the school events and was always willing to help out.

She was a grandmother every child would love to have.  She was a kind friend who I am blessed to know.

When my family moved to Orlando in 1966 from Richmond, Virginia, I met a friendly and welcoming girl at Sunday School. We bonded right away. Even though we lived in different cities, whenever we got together it was like we were never apart.
She was a bridesmaid in my 1979 wedding and I remember meeting her beautiful baby, Melissa, for the first time.
What I will remember and miss most of all is her beautiful eyes and lovely smile.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Edna was a beautiful person inside and out. Her  generosity knew  no bounds.  She was so kind to me and my kids, always smiling and up for anything at any given time.  She never had a unkind word to say. She was just a ray of sunshine always laughing.  She will be  genuinely missed by all her knew her.  Melissa, Haley, and Bob you will never be alone in your grief all your friends will help carry you through.

Edna and I were Girl Scout leaders together when our girls were younger. We sang in the choir together where she was my mentor. We share the same date of birth 10/14 but I am a year older than she. She was such a fun friend. We had so many memories. I will miss her so much. God Bless Bob, Melissa and Haley.

The great times we shared are too many to list...Englewood Football games in 1991, eating out, Bell Choir trips, eating out, Girl's only trips, eating out, parties at our home, eating out. 😊 I was so thankful that after her chemo was completed earlier this year she felt well enough to go back out to eat lunch with me numerous times. I'll always treasure that. I'm so sad she's gone but so glad she crossed my path 30 years ago. I was blessed by  her friendship. ❤️

Melissa I'm so sorry. If I can do anything for you sweetheart I'm there for you and Haley. Meeting her one time was enough to know how much she loved you two. Your trips together will always be in your heart. Your mama will want you you to follow that big heart you inherited from her. No question asks. You just go with it. #stronggirl. Edna had the most beautiful blue eyes and she had the most patience a woman could have! She had never used a bad word or has ever talked bad about any person in her life! She never fought a fight with anyone!
