Edith was born September 22, 1926 in Swainsboro, Ga . to Harvey Elmer Moon and Cleo Sherrod Moon. She moved to Jacksonville, FL, at the age of 11. She attended Andrew Jackson High School through the 9th grade but withdrew to marry William Lawrence (Buddy) Trantham, Sr, in 1942. She later earned her GED and LPN license . She was a faithful wife of 69 years and devoted mother to her 3 children.
More than anything in her life, she loved Jesus and served Him faithfully from the age of 12 yo, when she gave her life to Jesus while attending Faith Temple, in Jacksonville, FL. She shared the Gospel of Salvation by faith alone in Jesus alone with her family and her friends, any children , teens, students, and strangers who came across her path, and on mission trips to foreign lands. She will be loved and remembered as a faithful servant of Christ Jesus and His church.
She is proceeded in death by her loving husband , Buddy Trantham, and 4 of her 6 siblings. She is survived by her children , Penny Elaine Smith (Jim) , Pamela Sherrod Pearlstein (Todd), and William Lawrence “Lance” Trantham ,Jr (Patty) , 7 Grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren , and brothers, Rev. Daniel Eidson and George Moody Eidson (Teresa) .
A Funeral service will be held for family and friends on June 15, 2024 at 3 pm with viewing at 2 pm at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge. A private family interment will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
