My first detective  assignment at the Jacksonville Sheriff's  office  in the old zone 2 Westside burglary division in  which Doug was my Sargent  in charge. He treated me like I was his son and helped me a lot teaching me the things that I needed to learn in order to be a good detective. He was very kind and fair to all the men & women that served in his division.  Just by observing Doug's everyday acyions,  treatment towards others, it was obvious to see than He was a Christian and extremely honorable man of integrity. I KNOW THAT HES UP IN Heaven, having a ball, along with his wife who preceeded  him in death. To his family  I cannot stress to you enoughthat Doug didn't  die, he simply moved to Heaven because he accepted Christ free gift of Salvation. Although I will miss him being with us now on earth,, it's comforting g to know that me and many other of his brother & Sisters in blue will get to see him again. Save me a place at the table please Doug when we reunite with sometime in the very near future.

Meeting Mr. Doug was such a blessing.  We would always watch the judge Judy show together and sit back and talk for hours about all of the things over the course of his life that he has been through. Good and bad! He was a miraculous man with a kind soul and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to meet him. Heaven gained a very special person. 

Douglas Mangum was a Southern Gentleman who served his country and community for a lifetime. 

His smile and sense of humor were always comforting.

We are proud to have shared the same grandchildren.

Doug always looked forward to one of Helen's Homemade Fruit Cakes at Christmastime.

I have known Doug for many years. We were on the sheriff’s office for most of our careers. Douglas  was  a caring , thoughtful, dedicated, person who I have always felt honored to call my friend.  He will be missed.

I had the distinct privilege of working for and with Doug Magum in the Homicide Unit of JSO for 10 years.   There is no finer Policeman.  He was a consummate professional, a true gentleman in every since of the word and a gentle man; a man of uncompromising integrity and Christianity.  Those who had the honor of Doug's fellowship have the  indelible memory of a truly remarkable individual who served well and loved deeply. 

I met Doug Mangum when I joined the Duval County Sheriff's Office in 1962.   Over the next fifty + years, I would see Doug often during his long career with the JSO, and take time to have a chat about the "old days".  Doug served his Country and his City with dedication. He will be missed.  May he rest in the Peace of Our Lord.

My Uncle Doug is the last of that generation in our family.  I strongly remember as a child watching him  dress in his uniform and leave our family gatherings for Christmas or Thanksgiving to serve our city.  He never complained...just performed his duties.  I am so proud of the man he was.  We can all learn from the lessons he quietly taught us❤️

Uncle Doug was our family hero who was never able to be at our holiday celebrations because he was out making sure our city was safe  for all of us.  He was a quiet man but when you got to know him he had a wonderful sense of humor. I imagine he and Aunt Francis had lots of laughs together.  Over the years Joe and I have gotten to know him through his stories. He was a brave, honest, kind,  and thoughtful man who gave so much and expected so little.  He will be truly missed and  our thoughts and prayers are with the Mangum family .

Worked with Doug in detective division and loved seeing his smiling face every morning.  Never saw anyone more dedicated to being a police officer. So many laughs at work and him with his blanket at his desk. RIP Doug you will be so missed.

DC was one of my very first customers as a new State Farm Agent 16 years ago. He soon became my favorite. I loved hearing his stories about his law enforcement days - he even brought by his collection of badges to show my team. He loved his wife who unfortunately passed before I met him. He always  bragged about his awesome kids and grandkids. Rightfully so!  

I will miss his kindness and gentle smile. He was a very influential person in my life and business. My heart goes out to his family. May he Rest In Peace and go girl a long run in heaven! 

It was an honor to have met and worked with you.  My heart is filled with sadness and my eyes are filled with tears at your passing.  I know that God truly loved you and extended your life beyond so many.  May you take your rest in Heaven's Sweet Home.

Sgt. Mangum was the first of six sergeants I met when I started working at JSO. He was always kind, professional, courteous, and quiet. He always had a sense of humor, and was willing to share advice and insight whenever asked. It was my great pleasure and honor to work with him for several years.  My daughter and I visited him at his home when his mom passed; and when my son was born, he was the first one to visit us in the hospital. He has—and will always have—a specially reserved place in my heart. Until we meet again, my friend. 

It was always a pleasure to     visit with this kind, gentle and dedicated man over the years.  Mr. Mangum was a decorated police officer who took pride in serving and protecting his community.  However, he was most proud of his family and my prayers for peace and healing go to them during this time of loss.

Mr. Mangum was a dedicated policeman who touched many people’s lives! He was calm, patient and dependable. His children, grandchildren and family were truly Blessed to know him.
We will miss him so much and keep his Family in our prayers!

Was an honor to work with Mr. Mangum as civilian bailiffs. Soft spoken and easy going man. Thank you sir for your service to this country!

I’m going to miss you dearly my friend. I’m grateful that I got a chance to meet and work with you. My heart is heavy but I know you’re at peace. Love you Mr. Mangum 

I remember Doug taking us to school.  What a relief during difficult days riding a bus and the meanness that happened.  He was such a welcome blessing.  I remember also his gentile nature and good natured hospitality.  Always so welcoming.  We are praying for you and yours in this loss.  Our hearts as well go out for you.
