Dorothy Ann Hodge, age 82, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Dorothy was born on July 24, 1941 in Jacksonville to James Walter Judson Kinnamon and Georgia Dorothea Acosta Kinnamon. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her hobbies and interests included books, movies, the beach, nature, genealogy, spending all holidays with her family, travel with her husband, puzzles, home shopping for her family (the infamous egg cooker she purchased as gifts her family will never forget), the colors red, white, and blue, and most importantly, her love for having dessert first because to Dorothy, that was the best part of any meal she enjoyed. Dorothy lived her life to the fullest, and her life story and legacy she leaves behind is many years of memories her family will always cherish.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, James Kinnamon and Georgia Acosta Kinnamon; one daughter, Martha Hodge; and two grandsons, Don Steve Tillis, Jr. and Brandon Farmer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, James Hodge, Sr.; one son, James Hodge, Jr. (Teresa); three daughters Scarlett Perry (Donald), Nancy Farmer, and Lisa McCall (Ottis); eleven grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
The family has requested in honor of Dorothy to please wear red, white, and blue for the services.
