I remember Dot and Bill being so in love when I was a kid. He and my brother George Gibson were best friends. I remember Dot as the most beautiful girl with those blue eyes and wonderful smile. She was my idol and she never knew. After reading your thoughts of your Mom, I know she was as beautiful as I always knew she was. My heart goes out to each of you. May God bless the family and ease your pain.

A letter to Mom

Dear Mom,
 I thank God for every day that you were in my life. You gave our family unconditional love. Even when we made mistakes you let us know that you were always on our side. You encouraged, supported, and yes even pushed sometimes, but underlying was the belief your girls could accomplish whatever we wanted to do.  We did because you told us we could. On the day you went to be with the heavenly father you still gave us comfort. Oh the momma stories, the picture albums you kept, one for each girl, they all offered solace from our grief.  Did you know that these things would help us when you could no longer be there?  I am pretty sure you did.  I take comfort in the knowledge that you are with our heavenly father, and that we will be together again some day. A friend sent the following unknown Irish prayer, to me, and in return I am sending it up to heaven.

As we look upon her picture,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine,
And a smile for one and all.

Sweet Jesus, take this message,
To our dear mother up above;
Tell her how we miss her,
And give her all our love.

I can't express how grateful I am to the Lord for these last 6 years that I had to spend with you momma. That my son Lil Jay had the opportunity to fill you with such joy everyday. That I got to watch my daddy tend to your every need just like our heavenly Father would do. To be a witness to the true meaning of til death do us part. How thankful I am to be part of a family that truly loved one another. This is not goodbye for I know that we shall have the great family reunion when Jesus returns.  So I'll just say "see you later for now and I sure will miss you."

TRIBUTE TO MOMMA

How do we begin to give tribute to a woman who has given so much of her life to us?  All we have to do is look around and see the impact she has had on each of us.  Whether it was her smile, those beautiful blue eyes or just her style and grace.  
During the last weeks with momma, I have been pondering on all the things that made her special.  She was self sacrificing to us girls.  She would make sure we had something special to wear before she would buy something for herself.  She guarded us like a mother hen and was always encouraging us do things that would better our lives.  She instilled in us a sense of right and wrong, and I could swear she had eyes in the back of her head!!  I think I skipped school once in my life, and when I got home that day she asked?  Why weren't you in seventh period?  She loved pretty clothes and getting dressed up to go somewhere special.  She was a competitive Bridge Player and a wonderful hostess.  She was always willing to help someone in need.  She loved to come to the farm in the spring when all the baby calves were in the field.  Momma was raised on a farm with cattle.  She would tell us how she had to pick cotton when she was young.  Now, she did have a little stubborn streak, but that was one of the special things about her too.  She always acted like she could do anything.  I'm sure that's where I get that.  She didn't want to give up her driving rights.  I remember two or three years back when she headed out in the suburban, driving right out the front gate.  Raymond or Jimbo had to head out trying to catch her.  She said, she was going to see Bill at the barn.  She had a spunky side to her, that none of us will ever forget.         
She loved her grandchildren to her heart, and thought they could do no wrong, except maybe when they were getting on her white carpet.    There are so many Nana stories that each one of us could tell, but in all of them, the essence of Momma was that she loved us unconditionally.  
I am so thankful that we had this time to spend with her these last few weeks and days.  I am also thankful that our Dad was such a wonderful caretaker for our mother during these latter years.  Their love for each other and for our family will always be an inspiration for us all.

Georganne and I are thinking of you and all your family.  Dot was one of the sweetest ladies I ever met and she always looked after the Rolac foremen as if we were her own.  We will always remember her as someone extra special.

Mr. Bill, while your heart is grieving as your precious wife went to heaven, be comforted in knowing that Jesus is with you, and soon we will all be reunited in heaven for eternity. I thank you and Mrs. Dot for two wonderful gifts. First, you gave your beautiful, Christlike, loving daughter to our family. Her solid upbringing has made an influence on all of us. martha, haven't seen yall much over the years, but i do recall your mom as a bright and kind lady. she always knew who i was and had a kind word. i know your dad is heartbroken. prayers for strenght and comfort.

My heart broke when I stopped by the room to visit today and you were not there. My prayers and condolences go out to everyone who was touched by her lovely heart.  Mr. Cauley, your devotion and love for each other touched the hearts of many at Baptist Medical Center. The last week when I saw her she smiled at me and gave me a wink. Some people instantly find the open door in your heart and walk right in. I'm glad I had the opportunity to know you both, if only for a short time and in bad circumstances.
