Dorothy is survived by her 5 children, David (Misako) Brooks, Bill (Peggy) Brooks, Johnny (Janice) Brooks, Jenny (Roger) Burchfield, Melissa (David) Holden,18 grandchildren, Debbie (John) Harris, Bill Brooks, Denise Brooks, Jeff Brooks, Sherry (Ricky) Tison, Michelle (Joseph) Crews, Beverly (Paul) Davis, Johnni (Ronnie) Lawson, Timmy (Gai) Thigpen, Angie (Bobby) Lloyd, Stephanie (Rickey) Cagle, Gene (Kathy) Croy, Jamie (Julia) Burchfield, Joey Burchfield, Dylan Holden, Reid Holden, Ethan Holden, Dawson Holden, 34 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph Brooks, Jr, parents, Roy Lee and Rosa Lee Simpson and 2 sisters, Vieva McMurray and Grace Hunley.
Dorothy was born on November 27, 1925 in Knoxville, TN. She and her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1958 and has resided there ever since. She helped her husband in running a successful roofing company for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very Godly role model for her children, grandchildren and those who were lucky enough to know her. She was an amazing listener with a compassionate heart. Her greatest joy in life was tending to her family and loving them unconditionally.
A graveside service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park 7242 Normandy Blvd Jacksonville, Florida 32205, at 2 p.m. on July 10, 2015. There will be a graveside viewing prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. Rev. Joseph Crews will officiate the ceremony.
