Dorothy Mae Badgett, a cherished resident of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on September 1, 2023. Born on April 19, 1929, to Charles William Daughtrey Sr. and Catherine Davis Daughtrey in Bristol, PA, she was one of seven siblings, including Hazel Coleman, W. May Bazzelle, Catherine Hutton (Edward), and Charles William Daughtrey Jr., and Ruth Ridout, who preceded her in death.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Fannie Gonzalez, and her children Kevin Jackson, Tracey Greene, Karen Downey, and Kathi Badgett. Her legacy includes 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom will hold her memory dear.
During her time in Jacksonville, Dorothy attended Julington Baptist Church, where she found comfort and community in her faith.
Dorothy was a remarkable individual known for her exceptional career as a leading Avon salesperson and her unwavering entrepreneurial spirit. Her dedication to her craft was matched only by her passion for creativity, expressed through crochet, needlepoint, baking, and a plethora of other crafts. Her artistic talents brought joy to those in her presence.
One of Dorothy’s most cherished attributes was her infectious laughter and an extraordinary sense of humor, which brightened the lives of all who crossed her path. She lived by the motto, “Crochet is a great company keeper.”
At this time, there are no specific requests for memorial contributions or services. Dorothy Mae Badgett will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will forever reside in the hearts of those she touched.
