Doris Marie Ward

Doris Marie Ward, age 95, passed away on February 8, 2023 at her home in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born in Tennille, Georgia on December 20, 1927 to Willie Plato and Maude Alva Thompson. Doris graduated high school in LaGrange, Georgia. She married William Gordon Ward on October 12, 1946.

She worked as a Loan Supervisor at Jax Navy Federal Credit Union until her retirement. She participated in many activities, such as, attending Bible Study Fellowship, oil painting, gardening and reading. Doris was also a world traveler and enjoyed Big Band music. She attended church at New Hope Baptist Temple and Trinity Baptist Church.

She is survived by brother, David Thompson and spouse, Ruby Thompson; daughter, Patricia Ezell and spouse, Robert Ezell of Jacksonville, FL; son, David Ward and spouse, Pam Ward of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Stephen Ezell; granddaughter Elissha Winko and spouse, James Winko of Jacksonville, FL; grandsons, Robert W. Ward and spouse, Jody and Matthew Ward of Jacksonville, FL; great-grandsons, Logan Garrison and Liam Winko; great-grandsons, Brandon and Brady Winko; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Fox; great-granddaughter Aubrey (Wilkerson); great-great-granddaughter, and Summer Fox.

Preceded in death by her parents, Willie Maude Thompson and spouse, William Gordon Ward.

A visitation for Doris will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
