Donald Leroy George

Donald L. George, 76, was born on September 3, 1942, and after a long illness died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on August 1, 2019. He was married to the love of his life, Myrteen George, for 58 wonderful years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie George; his brother, Dennis C George; his daughter, Michele Alexander; and granddaughter, Heather George. He is survived by his wife Myrteen; son Donnie George (Amy); grandson Sean George (Rebecca); 4 great grandsons Chris, Rylan, Rayden & Logan; one brother, Ted George (Stormy); and many other family members & friends.

Early in Don’s business life he was a Master Plumber and owned & operated his own business. After many years working in the skilled trades he transitioned to Hospital Engineering where he spent the balance of his career.

He had a love of people and spent many hours providing guidance for the youth at Trinity Baptist Church in Clearwater, Florida. He also had his pilot’s license and loved to take Sunday afternoon flights. If you pulled a chair up next to him he could spend hours telling stories about the people he loved.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Murray Hill Baptist Church. Reverend Doug Axtell will serve as officiant . In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Murray Hill Baptist Church or Vitas Hospice Team 209. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Vitas Hospice Team 209 for their loving & compassionate care during his extended illness.
