Devon Kennard Patton, 91 years old, went to be with his Lord and Savior on 1-29-20 under hospice care.
Devon graduated from the University of Georgia. He served and retired from the Army Reserves for 32 1/2 years as a Colonel. He worked in construction and served at Murray Hill Baptist Church as a deacon, later honored as deacon emeritus. His compassion for his friends and family was an inspiration to everyone. He loved to joke, wore many hats and loved to make people laugh. He never met a stranger and always had a smile. He will be missed by many and forever in our hearts.
Devon is survived by his loving wife, Vera Vernell Patton, of 67 years. They have four daughters, Vivian (Eddie) Parrish, Jan (Wade) Niergarth, Vena (Greg) Patton-Stanbury and Bonnie (Audy) Lloyd. They have five grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren (with one on the way) and 1 great great grandchild.
Visitation will be 2/4 from 6-8pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside, 7242 Normandy Blvd. His Celebration of Life service will be 2/5 at 11 am at Murray Hill Baptist Church, 4300 Post St with Jay Stucky and Doug Axtell. Devon Patton will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park following celebration at the Church on Wednesday 2/5.
