Derek Anthony George, 16, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on December 1, 2016. He was born on September 13, 2000 in Jacksonville, FL. Derek was a tenth grade student at Atlantic Coast High School. He was outgoing and enjoyed hanging out with his friends. Derek's extra-curricular activities were playing sports: football, basketball, working out, and skateboarding. This year, he played on the Atlantic Coast Stingray football team #50 as a linebacker. Derek loved the sport of football and hoped to play for the Gators or FSU one day. Derek has gone to be with God and to be reunited with his grandparents, Virginia and Pete Morris. Survived by his parents, Robert and Mandee George; his brother, Dillon; and many other family members. We would like to thank all of our friends, family, and our community that has been by our side during this difficult time. Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin with visitation to be held two hours prior to funeral service.
