Dennis Christopher Skaff, 47 years old, was abruptly taken from us on Saturday, October 9, 2010, while on his way to a hunting trip. Skaff, a lifelong resident of Mandarin, grew up on Julington Creek, where he developed his love and respect for the outdoors. He was an avid camper, fisherman, and hunter, and he enjoyed life with all his family and friends. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, he never hesitated to lend a hand. He was the meaning of the term “Simple Man”, for it was the simple things and way of life that gave him the most enjoyment. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Skaff, and a nephew, and is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Dana Skaff. Additional survivors include his son, Christopher David Leon Skaff; his mother, Audrey Skaff; his two brothers, David (Julia), and Michael (Suzanne); his five nieces, Elizabeth, Audrey, Savannah, Caroline, and Amelia; his nephew, Joseph; his 2 great nieces, Vanessa and Erin; and because he never knew a stranger, countless friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 13th, in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 14th, in St. Joseph’s Historic Church, 4152 Loretto Rd., Jacksonville, with Fr. Daniel Cody and Fr. Anthony Sebra as Celebrant, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
