After courageously fighting ALS, Dennis Edward Murphy died October 19, 2010 in his home in Fruit Cove, Florida with his life friend and wife of 12 years, Midge O’Mahoney Murphy and devoted daughter Emily Murphy Eanes (Rob) beside him.
Dennis Murphy was born January 19, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska to Dr. Edward and Louise Ratliff Murphy and grew up in Arlington, Virginia attending St. Thomas More Elementary and Denis J. O'Connell High School. He graduated from the University of Virginia in Architectural History. He raised his daughter Emily (Va.), from his first marriage to Jean Cushman, in the Silver Spring, Maryland area. He was a loving grandfather to Sean Murphy and Aiden Eanes. He leaves three admiring sisters Pat Murphy Sheehy (Terry), Jeannette Murphy, Jaconette Murphy of Washington, DC and the families of nieces Jennifer Sheehy Keller, Alison Sheehy (New York), Erin Sheehy and Jannette Trelogan; and nephew Michael Sheehy (California)
Dennis was a valued 15-year IT associate at Vistakon, Johnson and Johnson and admired Lead Analyst. He was a dedicated follower of Prem Rawat, founder of Words of Peace Global and the Prem Rawat Foundation.
Dennis and Midge competed in dog agility with their Border collies which Dennis continued doing despite his adversity.
A celebration of his life will be held November 6th at 1 pm at The TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
