Demetrios George Beckus

He was born on March 17, 1936, in Plataea, Greece to the late George Beckus and Katerina Raxouti. He resided in Greece until 1955 when he immigrated to New York City. During his life Demetrios was a resident of Woodbridge, New Jersey, and Jacksonville, Florida.

Demetrios was formerly employed as a Chef, however, he has been retired for nearly (30) years.

Demetrios is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Athina Beckus, his only son George Beckus, daughter in law Laurel Fioramonti Beckus, his only grandson Dimitri Beckus, who he loved more than anything else in the world, and his older brother Angelo Beckus.

Demetrios never met a stranger. He loved life. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and friends. He would spend his summers in Greece with all his extended family. He loved watching the races with a cold beer. He will forever be missed by all who knew him. He was truly one of a kind.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday October 8th at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 12760 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida. Thereafter, Demetrios will be laid to eternal rest at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, Florida.
