he departed this life on February 17, 2021, in Gainesville, Florida, with his wife, sister, and children at his
side.
He graduated from Samuel W. Wolfson High School and earned Bachelor of Science and Master of
Accounting degrees from the University of Florida. Professionally, David was an exceptionally skilled
and highly regarded Certified Public Accountant in Jacksonville.
David enjoyed many passions and hobbies. He loved vacationing with his family in the North Georgia
mountains every summer. He was an avid collector of Marvel comic books and coins, an unmatched
competitor in Trivial Pursuit, and proudly claimed a basketball consecutive free throw record of 123.
David loved reading, the music of the British Invasion, and virtually anything on the Turner Classic
Movie channel. He was passionate about American Civil War history and spent many happy years
exploring battlefields and attending workshops with the Blue and Gray Education Society.
Incomparably witty, selfless, supportive, and loyal, David was a fiercely faithful friend and gifted writer
of sob-inducing birthday, anniversary, and Mother’s Day cards. The manner in which he devoted himself
to his wife Patricia, practiced patience, and never uttered a word in anger taught his children everything
they could hope for in a marriage. As a dad, he was boundlessly encouraging of his children’s craziest
hopes and endeavors, and steered them onto the right path more times than they would care to admit. He
lives on in them and in the lives of all those who were lucky enough to know him.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Lou Sims DuBose. He is survived by his wife of nearly 29
years, Patricia, his son Henry, and his daughters Audrey and Ava. He is also survived by his father and
stepmother, John and Judy DuBose, his sister and her husband, Diane and Stanley Pilinski, and many
other loving relatives.
Services will be held September 4, 2021 at 10:00am at All Saints Episcopal Church at 4171 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32207. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests offerings in David’s memory to All Saints Episcopal Church, the Blue and Gray Education Society, PO Box 1176, Chatham, Virginia 24531,
or a charity of your choice.
