David Andrew Byers

passed away on January 19, 2014 after his yearlong battle with leukemia. David is survived by his spouse, Peggy Sikes Byers & his family in England, father Peter F. Byers, brother William Byers(Linda), sisters, Carol Mallett(Paul), Sandra Nicklin(Roger), Lorraine Ishmael (Khalid), 7 nieces & nephews, 1 grandniece, & his beloved Gimpy & Sooty. David led an interesting & fulfilling life from being a Navigation Officer in the British Merchant Navy, handling logistics for a copper mining company in So. America, to owning & operating an import/export Company. David’s leisure activities included kayaking/sailing, as well as entertaining friends and family at home with gourmet meals, and the always exciting debate period over a great glass of brandy or port. We will celebrate David’s life and all that he meant to us with a memorial service at the Hardage-Giddens The Oaklawn Chapel at four o’clock p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014
