David attended Hogan Spring Glen Elementary and Englewood High School class of 1965. After high school David joined the U.S. Marine Corps (Paris Island) and was then called to serve in the Viet Nam War. He was very proud to be a Marine and serve his country.
Davis started out in several different jobs but later was a loyal and proud employee of American transmission for almost 30 years.
David grew up in the 50’s and 60’s and had many fun times and memories of this era. It was here he made longtime friends. He was a loving and caring child and brother and loved all his family. He had 35 first cousins who he cherished.
David was pre-deceased by his parents Ellsworth (Ellis) Alert and Mary Murray Appleby.
He is survived by his sister Mrs. Robert F. (Linda) Appleby Uible and nephew Charles Michael (Chase) Barry II and his wife Linda and their son Ethan and an aunt Marguerite(W.A.) Williamson.
David was a member and baptized in the St. Nicholas Park Christian Church.
A visitation will be held at the St Nicholas Park Christian Church, 3226 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207 on Friday June 3, 2015 from 10:00am to 10:30am with a funeral service at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to any Marine Corps or Vietnam organization or the Wounded Warriors Project.
