Daniel Kemp, Sr., 82, passed away June 19, 2012. His final days were under the wonderful care of Hospice. He was born November 24, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late George Kemp and Mary Ellen Tabor Kemp.
Dan spent 4 years in the Navy and was assigned to the destroyer the USS NORRIS during the Korean conflict. At the end of his enlistment he was honorable discharged in 1952 and remained in Jacksonville, FL.
Dan took a part-time job immediately with ADT. He had always been electronically inclined and the job was perfect. He retired after 39 years of service. During that time under the GI bill he completed 4 years of business management. He was offered a promotion to a position in Atlanta, Ga. But after 6 months trial we decided we missed Florida. Dan had a love for fishing and the ocean.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Mary Hayman Kemp: daughter Cynthia Kemp- Lewis, son Daniel Kemp, Jr. (Merle); granddaughters Cheryle Lackowski (Josh); Kristina Kemp and 1 great- grandson John.
He also is survived by a brother George Kemp of Venice, FL; a sister Ruth Witmeyer ( Frank), MI; brother- in law William Hayman of Glen ,St Mary Fl and Charles Hayman ( Myra) Tampa, FL along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012, 11am located at Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to: Northeast Community Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to: Hardage- Giddens Funeral Home Main Street Chapel.
