Clinton Gainey, 87, of Jacksonville Florida passed away Tuesday, October 22,2013. He was born in Baker County to Henry and Katie Brown Gainey on August 13, 1926. Mr. Gainey was a WW II veteran who served his country in the United States Navy in the Pacific theatre. He later worked for Southern Bell, retiring after 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Gloria Sweat Gainey, and grandson Clinton Tyler McCormmick who was killed in action in Iraq. He is survived by 3 sisters, Bernice “Sis” Long, Lois Martin, and Myrtice Hardy, 2 daughters, Linda Dianne Gainey and Lori Ann McCormmick, 1 son Walter (Toni), and 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Shavonne, and Daniel. He loved to fish, cook, and especially eat. After retiring he and his wife traveled the country and enjoyed life. He gave his heart to Jesus and let us know he was ready to go home when the time came. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax. FL 32205. A public visitation will be held, Saturday October 26, 2013 from 10:00 AM, followed immediately by a Funeral service and interment at Riverside Memorial Park, Lester Gainey officiating.
