Clifford Lee Jones

On May 22, 2023, Clifford Lee Jones, age 87, passed away peacefully in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Concord, NC, and enjoyed growing up in Anderson, SC, where he attended Boys’ High School and Anderson College.

He was the son of the late Clifford Lee Jones, Sr. and Annie Rector Jones. He is predeceased by sisters, Mary Sue Cash (Joe), Frances Cheek (John), and Edith Jones (Carey).

Cliff is survived by his wife of seventy years, Margaret Idella Wait Jones, and two son, Clifford Lee Jones, Jr. (Catha); grandchildren, Courtney Jones Gilmore, Carter Jones, Clifford Lee Jones, III; great-grandchildren, Skyler, Shade and Samantha; and son, Michael Allen Jones and special four legged companion “Buddy”.

Cliff proudly served in the U.S. Navy for thirty years, after which he was employed by National Cash Register, where he later retired.

He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, driving and working on sports cars, helping his children repair their cars and spending time with his family, playing golf in earlier years, and trips to the mountains on roads untraveled.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Murray Hill Presbyterian Church, 940 Talbot Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32205 or the charity of your choice.
