It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the loss of our beloved husband, son, father and brother Christopher Shane Spann, 50, who passed away unexpectedly on February 23rd, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.
Chris was born on December 5, 1972 in Jacksonville, Florida to parents Ray and Diane Spann. He grew up in Jacksonville and graduated high school from University Christian School in 1990 winning the State Championship in baseball. He graduated college from Frances Marion University in Florence, South Carolina.
After graduating he relocated back to Jacksonville. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department for many years. He also worked at ADT, Snyder Heating & Air and Fenwick Home Services.
To say Chris loved baseball is a huge understatement. From playing baseball for many years, Chris moved on to becoming a coach. He was a great mentor to many baseball players and has made such an impact on so many young players. He coached his son in different organizations around town. He was also an Assistant Coach at University Christian for several seasons and most recently was the Head Varsity Coach at Christ Church Academy.
Chris didn’t only love baseball he loved football too. His favorite sports teams were the Florida Gators, Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Braves.
