She was born in Utica, NY, on October 9, 1951, to Joseph and Sally Slobodian, who preceded her in death. Chris grew up in Chadwicks, NY, where she graduated in 1969 and subsequently relocated to Jacksonville in 1979.
Chris was employed by Proctor and Gamble and Blue Cross/Blue Shield, but found her home in the library at Lorretto Elementary School, where she worked for 12 years until her retirement in the early 2000s.
Chris was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend and work colleague. She always felt that family was the most important asset one could have and was extremely devoted to her parents and siblings, who were also dedicated to her well-being, up until her time of passing.
The chief among her passions, however, was her singular and tireless dedication to her two sons, whose lives and daily activities she followed closely whenever possible. She volunteered in their classrooms, performing any task needed, taught them in religious instruction, and actively participated in virtually every aspect of their dozen or more years playing in youth baseball. She served as Team Mom, assistant coach, head coach, league treasurer and served on the Board of the Mandarin Sports Association (MSA). She was an avid reader, a talented craftsperson, cook and homemaker. Her sense of humor, wit and giving spirit will be remembered and cherished by all.
Chris leaves behind Peter, her husband of 38 years; sons, Daniel and Patrick; sisters, Patricia Shwarts (Richard) and Peggy Anderson (Lamont); brother, Tim Slobodian; along with nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. She has changed the lives of many and will be missed dearly.
Chris’ family will be celebrating her life privately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care by visiting https://www.communityhospice.com/give/
