Christie, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Bishop Kenny High School. Following graduation from Lake Howell High School (Orlando), Christie attended Flagler College in St. Augustine where she majored in Deaf Education. Christie began her career in education at Holy Spirit Catholic School in Jacksonville, FL. After falling in love and marrying her sweetheart, Jeff and Christie moved to Pensacola, Florida where she continued her teaching career at St. Paul’s Catholic School. Jacksonville was always Jeff and Christie’s forever home and they returned to the First Coast where they started their family. Christie was passionate about education, in particular the importance of a religious based education in Catholic Schools. When people reflect on her educational influences, her creative and educational centers and festive classroom decor, to include her seasonal sweaters and “flair” are often mentioned. Her creativity with children carried over to her family activities and Christie was always creating games and activities for her three children and nephew and nieces to engage in. She loved to create scrapbooks of family and friend memories to share. Christie was also the light of social events and was loved by all who knew her.
Christie is predeceased in death by her beloved father, David J. Ginzl. Christie was extremely close to her father and we take comfort knowing that they are reunited in heaven together. Additionally, she is predeceased in death by her mother-in-law, Linda Harless. Christie is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff Harless, her three children Andrew (20), Jacob (17), and Sara (14), her mother, Carole Ginzl, her two sisters Andrea (Shaun) and Rebekah (Peter) and her many nieces and nephews.
