Charles Lewis Wells Jr.

Charles L. Wells, Jr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the age of 86. He attended public schools in Jacksonville, The Bolles School, and graduated from The Gemological Institute of America. Charlie was employed by Wells Jewelers, Inc. since 1953 and continued working until 2015. As an active member of the American Gem Society, Charlie served on the board of directors and as chairman of various committees. He was also a former book reviewer for the JEWELERS CIRCULAR - KEYSTONE and the JEWELERS BOOK CLUB. Over the years, Charlie enjoyed memberships at San Jose Country Club, The Seminole Club, and Rotary. In his younger years he enjoyed boating, fishing, photography, and tinkering; he could fix anything.

He is survived by his son, Charles Wells, III; his daughter, Kristina Bramlett (Mark); and several cousins. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Ingeborg, in 2006.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida.
