

He leaves to mourn, wife Peggy Sue of Jacksonville, daughter Katherine Norton of Montgomery, AL; son Rick Weller of Jacksonville, and two grandchildren, Jared & Jennifer Norton and great granddaughter Hannah of Atlanta; and Dr. Andrew Norton of Lynn Haven, FL. Chuck also leaves brothers Harry of Tavares, Lee of Battle Creek, MI, and Virginia LaCrone of Tavares. He will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Charles joined the Navy at 18 and traveled to Singapore on the USS PRATT Destroyer Escort. He was married to Peggy Sue Mathis of Aurora, IL in 1948. They were childhood sweethearts married for 65 years. Chuck worked for Western Electric at age 40. GE moved Chuck to Jacksonville in 1970. He worked on Navy Destroyers Spruance Class installing jet engines for Port St. Joe Paper Company in Pascaguale, MS. Chuck continued to work for GE until his retirement in 1987. After 20 years of traveling and sailing, Chuck and wife Peggy retired to enjoy their golden years in Jacksonville, Florida. We thank God for his life and the positive influence he had upon his family and those who were dear to him. Chuck was loved by his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday the 11th at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
