In loving memory of Charles Marvin Watkins, who passed away as of Sunday, June 14th, 2015. He was 69 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years MaryAnne Watkins, his three daughters Teresa Simmons, Christine Yahre (Lewis Yahre), Jamie Mathews (Christopher Mathews). Grandchildren include: Ocean & Garrett Simmons; Lilith Morris; Katie Hackett; Brenda Yahre; Christian, Isabelle, and Emma Mathews. Siblings include: Mary Alice O’Brien, Rena Casian, and Tom Watkins with many nieces and nephews.
Charles was born on September 12th, 1945 in Blountstown Florida. He was the youngest son of John Pearl and Viola Pearl Watkins. After graduating Columbia High School in 1963, Charles entered into the United States Air Force in March 1964, serving in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1966. Upon his departure from the Air Force, Charles received an Air Medal; Presidential Unit Citation; VH Service Medal; Marksmanship Badge; two Purple Hearts and a ranking of a Sergeant E-4.
On June 17th, 1972, Charles married his high school sweetheart MaryAnne Patterson at the Incarnation Catholic Church in Sarasota Florida. Over the next 10 years, Charles and MaryAnne welcomed three beautiful daughters. During this time, Charles had a passion for golf, going to the movies, taking family vacations and eating out at the most delicious restaurants known to man. Charles enjoyed putting puzzles together with his grandchildren and cooking out at home with family and friends.
