Charlie was born on June 18th, 1930, in Johnson City, Tennessee to Horace and Rohana (Crabtree) Stephens.
He was raised in Crossville Tennessee, and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. After departing the navy, he was employed by the Southern Bell Telephone Company, where he worked as a Switchman, and repaired TV’s as a hobby and part-time job. He married Judith (Burke) Stephens and had four children: Kenny, Kim (Berry), Kathi (Newton), and Mike.
Charlie was very patriotic and loved his country. He loved fishing, camping, and outdoor activities; and was a member of the Shriners and American Legion Post 137. He was a hard-working man and loved piddling with anything electrical or using his creativity to build or repair anything.
He is survived by his four children; seven Grandchildren, Jessica Newton, Wade Berry, Laci Olmstead (Berry), Kenny Ray Stephens, Marla Stephens, Joshua Dunn, and Jacob Dunn; and one Great-Grandchild, Fynlee Olmstead.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy; and his four siblings, Chester (Red) Beaty, Carmen Stephens, Eugene Stephens, and Bessie Farmer.
Family will receive friends on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home from 10:00 - 11:00am; a graveside service will be held at 11:00am.
