He was born April 15, 1933 to James Ralston and Winnie Herring Richardson, the youngest of seven children. He was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. Charles graduated from Landon High School in 1951 and earned a bachelor’s degree from FSU in 1958 after serving four years in the U.S. Air Force.
Charles then began his lifetime professional career in the insurance industry working as a representative for numerous insurance companies. In April 1974, he established his own business, Richardson Insurance Agency. In 1980, the business became a partnership with his beloved wife Loraina joining him. Through their many years of dedication and hard work, the business flourished. They were fortunate to be able to work side by side on a daily basis until Charles’ recent hospitalization. As the business grew, more staff was added in order to provide the level of personal service that Charles so strongly prized. Loraina and the staff will honor his wishes by perpetuating that tradition.
Charles loved serving the Lord in many capacities during his life and most recently attending Glendale Community Church. He was an avid racquetball player, golfer, reader and world traveler. He was a Scottish Rite 33rd degree Mason and a longtime member of the University Club, where he served as past Vice Chair of the Board of Governors. As a proud member of the Dawn Patrol at the University Club, which assembled every weekday at 6:30 AM for workouts, racquetball and more importantly camaraderie, he developed treasured lifelong friendships. Charles’ love of people, warm personality and friendly manner opened doors in every walk of his life and endeared him to many. He was blessed with an abundance of loving family and friends.
